SPRINGFIELD, MO. — Following a two-day jury trial and after deliberating for thirty-seven minutes, a Greene County jury found William Gage Lancaster-Furlong, 27, of Springfield, guilty of Domestic Assault in the Second Degree, a class D felony, and three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the Second Degree, class A misdemeanors.

Evidence presented at trial showed that on May 27, 2025, Lancaster-Furlong grabbed the victim by the throat and strangled her for an estimated 30 to 60 seconds while she was holding one of their children. The victim’s vision became blurry during the assault. When the victim fled with both children, Lancaster-Furlong chased them through the hallway and stairwell of their residence, ultimately shoving the victim into a wall, causing her and the children to fall to the ground. Both children sustained minor injuries during the incident.

After further deliberations, the jury recommended the following sentences: Count 1 - Domestic Assault in the Second Degree, three years in prison; Count 2 - Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the Second Degree, six months in jail; and Count’s 3 and 4, Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the Second Degree, nine months in jail on each of the two counts. Judge

Kaiti Greenwade presided over the trial and set a sentencing hearing for April 16, 2026.

“When domestic violence occurs in a home with children, those children are victims too—whether they witness the abuse or, as in this case, are physically harmed in the process. We will continue to pursue justice for all victims of domestic violence,” said Greene County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Patterson.

The case was investigated by the Springfield Police Department. Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Sheri Tucker and Shana Mora tried the case for the State.
