SPRINGFIELD, MO. — Christopher Ryan Cable, 38, of Brighton, Missouri, was found guilty of harassment in the first degree, a class E felony, on February 24, 2026, following a two-day jury trial in Greene County Circuit Court before the Honorable Judge Jerry Harmison.

On March 17, 2025, Cable began to message his then wife threatening messages days after she had separated from him. The defendant ignored repeated requests by the victim to leave her alone. The victim reported that Cable had sent her text messages threatening to cut her throat and had shown up at her workplace. She also reported she had found a tracking device attached to her car and that Cable was monitoring her phone’s location. The victim and her co-workers reported that the defendant walked around the exterior of the building, looked through windows, banged on windows, and called out for the victim. Witnesses noted that the victim was visibly shaken. Witnesses also reported that they had to shut the blinds and lock the front door to prevent Cable from entering the business. A domestic lethality assessment administered by deputies revealed the victim was at risk of being killed by her husband. Cable was taken into custody at the scene where he admitted to sending the threatening text message.

The jury returned a guilty verdict in approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. In a second phase of the trial, the jury found that Cable had two prior felony convictions qualifying him as a persistent offender and subjecting him an enhanced range of punishment of up to seven years in the Department of Corrections. Judge Harmison set sentencing for April 29, 2026. Cable was remanded to the Greene County Jail without bond pending sentencing.

“This verdict honors every survivor who finds the courage to step forward. And it sends an unambiguous message that threats and intimidation are not just red flags. They are domestic abuse, and they will be prosecuted as such,” said Prosecuting Attorney Dan Patterson.

The case was investigated by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Gabriela Lopez-Gardner and Shana Mora..
