SPRINGFIELD, MO. — Today, Glenn Michael Johnson, 43, of Springfield was found guilty of assault in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor, and sexual misconduct in the first degree, a class B misdemeanor, following a misdemeanor bench trial before Greene County Circuit Court Judge Kirsten Poppen.

On September 21, 2024, at approximately 4:35 a.m., Johnson was being discharged from Cox North Hospital when he became aggressive toward hospital staff and security officers. After being escorted from the building, Johnson exposed himself to security officers outside the hospital and threw objects, including rocks, at them in an attempt to cause physical injury.

Judge Poppen found Johnson guilty from the bench following the presentation of evidence at trial. Johnson faces up to one year in county jail on the assault charge and up to six months on the sexual misconduct charge. Judge Poppen set a sentencing hearing on February 13, 2026.

“Healthcare workers and security personnel deserve to perform their jobs without being subjected to assault or indecent exposure. We appreciate the work of the Springfield Police Department and Cox Health security staff in bringing this case to a successful conclusion.” said Greene County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Patterson.

The case was investigated by the Springfield Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Joe Wantuck.
